Lunar Fragments

Lunar Fragments (Tsuki no kakera), Ogawa Machiko, 2014

Every time I visit the Met, I rediscover and take photos of this piece, Lunar Fragments by Ogawa Machiko. Like Jun Nishida, Ogawa Machiko explores the geology of ceramics, the boundaries between different phases, and the spectrum from glass to stone.

Galerie Frank Elbaz has some beautiful images of her recent work.

Speaking of the moon, I can’t help but think of simulant.

Simulate a material, even if it's from a different planet.
